Common Foot Conditions |
Chillblains are small, itchy, inflamed swellings on the skin that dry out and crack – leading to considerable pain. They normally occur on the toes or in areas of exposed pressure (such as bunions or toes forced into tightly-fitting shoes) and there is a high risk of infection occurring.
They usually occur due to the reaction of the feet’s skin to the cold or damp conditions. They can also be affected by diet and general hormonal changes throughout life. Warming up frozen feet too quickly is another frequent cause.
