Ingrown Toe nails
Known as onychocryptosis, these are painful conditions which occur when the skin on the side of the toenail grows over the edge of the nail or when the nail grows in to the skin.
Treatment
Uninfected toe nails can be treated as follows;
- Soak the feet in warm soapy water
- Dry them thoroughly
- Apply a mild antiseptic cream
- Bandage the toe
A soft toe-cap can be worn while the toe heels. If an excessive inflammation or swelling occurs, then a visit to your local Chiropodist is essential. The clinician will remove or trim the rogue nail and treat the infection.
